  • I've been to both places, but sadly never got to taste any wine! Both towns had picture book scenery, and smelled fruity fresh, during the afternoon / early evening drives, but I have to pick Sonoma. I just stands out in my mind the most.
  • Well I have to say Sonoma... but I'm not exactly a fair judge of this, having lived in Sonoma County my entire life... hmmm. We like to say... Sonoma makes wine, Napa makes auto parts. lol
  • I like both Napa and Sonoma and have gone wine tasting in both regions. If I was going to live in one of them, I'd choose Sonoma. Sonoma is more laid back and not as hot during the summer months.
  • I always hear good reviews about Napa Valley wine more than Sonoma so I guess Napa wins because this is what my formed opinion is. This is an iffy statement at best. I only drink white wine since the red stuff makes me queasy so my input has already eliminated 1/2 the wines out there. Next time there is a wine tasting anywhere I will definitely inquire into which region the product came from.
  • The answer, for everybody but those having a penchant for (specifically) Napa cabernet, is SONOMA. "Sonoma" is a county comprising six distinct grape-growing regions, and even more appelations. You get nice pinot noir, chardonnay, and sparkling wines in Carneros. Alexander Valley produces big, rich reds (cab, syrah, petite sirah, zinfandel). Dry Creek Valley is known for its zinfandel, but produces spectacular cabernet sauvignon, grenache, syrah, petite sirah, and sauvignon blanc. Sonoma Valley is known for its cabs and sauv blanc. The sprawling Sonoma Coast region makes for wonderful pinot noir and chardonnay. And my favorite, Russian River Valley, produces the best pinot noir, chardonnay, and zinfandel on the planet. Napa, on the other hand, offers big, overpriced (but occasionally excellent) cabernet sauvignon, presented in a disneyland-like tourist atmosphere, in which visitors are charged $ for every taste.
  • How about Sanapa Noma? Sorry, your question reminded me of a very, very old TV commercial.
