From its beginnings, Israel has been surrounded on all sides, and infiltrated from within, by people whose deepest desire is the total extermination of Israel. How does attempting to defend themselves against that make them "not entirely innocent&qu

How was Israel formed in the first place?

First of all, nitanitro, you need to keep in mind that there have been Jews living in that area for thousands of years. However, the ownership of that land has changed hands several times in that time. The modern history of that nation begins with WWI when the Ottoman Empire chose to side with Germany. As a result of this that empire was broken up. One of the divisions was the current area known as Palestine. Jews from other parts of the world started to filter back into that area to join their brethren who were already there after this. Then cam WWII and the Holocaust. After this the Jews began petitioning the newly formed UN for a country of their own where they could control their destiny. The compromise was eventually reached where the land of Palestine would be divided up among the two major groups that were inhabiting that area (the Jews and the Palestinian Arabs) and create two self-governing nations. The Jews agreed to the compromise. The Palestinians did not.

Instead, the Palestinians with the help of their Muslim neighbors chose to attack Israel and try to drive the Jews out. It should be noted, that the Jews were willing to live in peace with their Islamic neighbors. It is the Muslims that attacked Israel. It should be further noted that, at the time, the Muslims had done nothing to develop the land and make it productive. They still have not really done much with the territories that they occupy. Instead, they prefer to blame Israel for the fact that they are sitting in refugee camps without the means to support themselves. They continue to refuse to see that it is their own refusal to live in peace with Israel that has caused most of their problems. They continue to fill their media with hate-filled anti-Semitic propaganda. (This even includes their children’s shows.) There is not peace in that part of the world because they don’t want peace with Israel.
