    I think it stems from the original Latin word "Dumassus", which later became the Germanic "Dumkoff" then the English varied it to "Dubyoff" and it finally became "Dubya" in the US in Texas.

    It's a modified, shorter form of Double U ("W") with a Texas drawl.
    It is a term George W Bush was called in order to diferentiate him from his father.
