Your link doesn't work so I can't see the original question. I assume the question was about him being a slave owner. no I don't think he was a racist. GW was born more than 200 years ago. In that time America has changed and so has peoples attitudes towards race. To me in order to be a racist you must either hate a race or think it's members inferior to your own. I don't think he gave race much thought. that is a failing more of his culture than him personally.

The way you asked the question, seemed racist. That might be why. - Do you think George Washington is "rolling in his grave" right now knowing there is a black candidate for president? - I would think, since he owned slaves, he would be shocked, also he would be shocked that a woman is running.

I agree that your other question sounds pretty racist. To answer this question, it's hard to judge whether George Washington would be a racist by today's standards. The time period he lived in was much different than today, and people truly believed that African Americans were a lesser race of people. 'Racism' didn't even really exist then, as we know it today. However, he was most certainly ignorant about matters of race, as were the huge majority of people in his day.
