If Yahoo knows that an email is spam, why does it then deliver to your Spam folder instead of deleting it?

    Because it might not be spam, there are "errors" you know.

    I bet you wouldn't be happy if that new email from the boss was deleted telling you all about your new promotion would it?

    just in case it is not... one mans spam may not be another mans... Then again, I get emails in the wrong folder sometimes based on the number of people the sender has sent it to.
