It has changed for the worse no where near the musical talent as say the Dead or pink floyd or any other legendary rock bands. Music's standards are decreasing by the day especially with all these cheap thrill bands which dont even actually move you in a way that Yes or any other type of amazing band such as them. I dont know im just rambling my thoughts really. key element to a song should be soul and todays music has anything but that. I don't mean every new rock band out there suck because thats not true there are some good new bands such as wolfmother whitestripes ummm those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head. w.e im done peace out everyone!

Rock music has change allot, it has become more heavy over the years. Adding more guitar distortion giving it a new feel.

has turned to crap: I wouldn't care a bit if all the Led Zepplin cds and Van Halen suddenly fell into a huge black hole. rock is dead, I've heard all the good stuff and it ended long ago. I like the new sounds like Nelly Furtado and the stuff put out by DJs, not only are they new sounds, but literaly "new sounds" so it looks like the future isn't so bleak as once thought for music.

It has changed for the worse. Nowadays, the lyrics in some of the "rock" music songs are pathetic. The guitar playing is subpar. Most "rock" music these days sounds more like pop. It's all about the "all mighty dollar".

Sure it has! Elvis was rock music and it was considered vulgar to some...look how it's changed compared to that!

Well rock music used to be the shit, its kind of dying off now but its only dead if you say it is so dont! This is what happened to Punk and that was poopular in the 70/80's. Nowadays Indie and Trance/techno seems to be most popular. Personally i think loads of teenage kids will form krummy techno bands though and kill it off pretty quick. I think the next stage of rock music is heavy metal, the fan base is growing massive

Take a band like Black Sabbath. They use to be Heavy Metal. Then they became Rock, and now they are classic rock, but BLACK SABBATH is still Black Sabbath. There are so many facets of Rock though how can you articulate the changes in one paragraph. There is the way its played (musical instrument quality has gotten better)
How its played (meaning the talent level of player) The way its recorded (which has been leaps and bounds. It use to be analog to analog. Then digital to analog. Now its analog to digital pretending to be analog.)
Then way its listened to, the concert, video, and whatever dance your suppose to do to it. You can certainly say you don't like todays rock music, but to say its gotten worse or better is simply selfserving. As if your opinion dictates an overwhelming genre of music.
