Why is Indy car and ABC hyping up Danica Patrick even though she does not have a win and wasn't the first woman to participate in the series?

Ratings, my friend, ratings. That said, I loved the 500 mile race when I was a kid and wanted to be the first female to race in it -- so I'm willing to cut ABC & the sponsors some slack. I assume Danica loves the sport as much as I did. In fact, I just wrote about it --

In the US, womens sports needs a superstar.

Look at Michelle Wie in golf.

She is only 17 and keeps missing while trying to make the cut at a men's major.

    Enough already on this story.

Honestly, I think it is because of her sex appeal. As we all know, sex sells right? So perhaps if they feature danica, they can get more viewers to tune in come race day to catch a glimpse of her. Same goes with any products or endorsement deals she might have.

Take Anna Kornikova.. No championships, not a great tennis record and yet people talk about her all the time. She even has several lucrative endorsement contracts. Its about the sex appeal..
