Your best bet is to call the particular airline you're flying and ask. Things are changing all the time in the airline industry!

I didn't had any problem carrying 2 laptops with me on international flights. Sometimes I need to do that if I want to bring along my personal laptop together with my company issued laptop. One advise if you want to place your laptop in a check-in baggage: Wrap it with a plastic bag, and make sure it is airtight. The temperature in the cargo compartment can go lower than -55 degC. The moisture build-up might kill your electronics.

You SHOULD have no issues carrying 2 laptops although security may ask you to turn them on. I would NEVER put a laptop in checked luggage however as too many bad things can happen from breakage, theft or even some liquid breaking in another persons luggage and leaking through into yours and getting your laptop wet. As always, check with homeland security and your airlines websites to see if there are any new regulations that exist before you fly because a yellow or orange threat level will have different allowances than a red.
