  • No. Sorry to seem brusque.
  • No, not fear. Don't know what drives me, but it's not fear.
  • I think you might call that "good stress" than fear. Good stress motivates you to do the right thing, study hard, be on time for meetings, eat right etc...
  • no, the desire to love and be loved is my biggest motivator.
  • Possibly. I fear being old and broke and on the street. Therefore, I drag my old bones out of bed and off to work every morning...hoping I will be able to "retire" someday...but, I am increasingly, like Mark Twain, "harrassed with doubt".
  • I would say I'm driven not by fear, but by hope. I hope for a long, healthy life, so I respect my body accordingly I hope for a relationship that is all I dream of and more, so I WON'T compromise I hope for a Godly life not out of fear of the hereafter, but because I embrace "what comes after".
  • Motivation is different from fear.Motivation promotes interest;fear promotes stress. And I don't know how to explain it more(Probably I'm not too grown up to put it in words). But I can "feel' it- motivation is a better factor than fear and is different.
  • Wanting to be "my BEST" is my biggest motivator. BEST at everything I do no matter what the task is. I do fall short at times (because I am ONLY human) but knowing that I tried keeps me going. I guess you could say "not wanting to fail" could also be my motivator. :)
  • Personally, no. I don't have a lot of fear (usually) when it comes to everyday things like my appearance, my religious beliefs, or whether I'm going to get mugged on my way to the mailbox. Those kinds of fears seem pointless and crippling to me. However, I do believe that the corporate, industrial, political, and advertising forces in this country are constantly using fear as the prime motivator. Look at any television commercial or newscast, and you will see things that are expressly engineered to terrify you into buying products you don't need, or voting for the candidate the ad represents. Even with things as trivial as the whiteness of your teeth, the amount of bacteria on your kitchen counter, or the fear of burning your hand on a hot pan, fear is probably the most effective motivating force when it comes to shaping the opinions of most Americans.
  • not really - fear is only a motivator for me in urgent situations. in day-to-day life situations, my family is my main motivator. I want to have children, see them grow, see them have children, etc. I want them to have all of the best that I can provide for them both physically and mentally in their life. I believe that having both parents setting the right ideas early on in a child's life can set building blocks that will not crumble later in life, and I want to do that for my child(ren) when they arrive. I believe that motivation for the betterment of ourselves and others (especially our children) is a more driving factor than fear ever can, or will, be.
  • No.. fear does not drive me. I pride myself on not being afraid of the basics of life. Unusual situations like being robbed and gangfights and such are reasons to be afraid, but fear goes much deeper and can be harmful. Fear is usually something that holds one back, it prevents one from doing... Fear of being fat, should be "concerned" about being fat... and that "concern" should be the motivator for change in that condition. Fear causes us to make mistakes, or even become reckless. There are those that rule by fear... but to rule by fear is to rule without respect.
  • Fear is a big one, alright, but love is my greatest motivator.
  • in my opion and i know its a cliche and is therefore in the wrong section but we have nothing to fear but fear it's self
  • No. Self-satisfaction is my biggest motivator. Most of the time I get it from a job well done. Sometimes from doing something I've never done before (even if it's not the "best"). Sometimes it's from answering questions here in this forum. Sometimes it's just from sitting back and watching a good movie. And sometimes it's simply from telling some fool who desperately needs it to "F" off. But that's me in a nutshell. Hope this helps.
  • yes, whether it drives you to be any happier in your life is another question
  • Fear is negative, love is positive. Life was meant to be filled with love and hope. Fear is restricting, limiting and painful. Love is refreshing, open and honest. A life lived with love and acceptance will be a life rich in spiritual rewards. Lives lived in fear do not offer rewards, only pain. Trying to "avoid" something, anything, only invites the negative. Always seek the positive, always go for the light, the highest good...and your life will be filled with love.
  • My love of my life and lifestyle is my biggest motivator.
  • Fear is a motivator but it is never my greatest. The greatest motivator is my love for the Lord.
  • Fear is the last thing that motivates me. I find fear to be more paralyzing than any thing. What drives me is curiosity. I'm always curious about the next choice and the next outcome.
  • That's an interesting concept...........and it is completely plausible. I think fear does drive many people, myself included.
