  • "mom, dad, i need your help" they will be there and help. admitting you need help is the first step to recovery.
  • just tell them in the way you think is best it is worth you telling them because they will be able to help you through it.
  • Do you have a good doctor you can tell first? Someone to help you tell your parents. If not it can still be done (and easily)..basically you just tell them...it will feel incredibly difficult but the minute you have opened up to them you will feel a tremendous sense of relief. Your parents, in all likelyhood, know something isn't quite right. Now would be a good time to tell them that they are correct. Good Luck:)
  • Don't worry your parents. Cheering yourself up is the best way.
  • I agree with DA BEN DAN. Clearly you are worried about their reaction, so it is helpful to enlist the help of someone who is mutually respected, eg a good family friend, a relative, a doctor. But, no matter their reaction, you must get help. I am a depressive, and getting medication and counselling was the best thing. Good friends and my doctor persuaded me, even took me, for help. (I too, had a mother who did not understand, even though she was a depressive herself)
  • I really struggled with the prospect of telling my mum I was on anti depressants! She knew i had a poor appetite and was always tired but as i live away from home she didnt know the full extent of it! Eventually I was able to tell her and I just said "Mum you know I havent been eating and sleeping well Ive been to the doctors and theyve prescribed me anti depressants" she was fine with it I was really surprised at her response now she is there for me if i need her!xx
  • I would think, as your parents, they should already know, or have some idea. Don't fret, just talk.
  • Tell them you don't feel good and you want to see a doctor. When they ask why, tell them you have no energy and you want to get it checked out. If they keep asking, be open and honest and pray for the best. If you really are depressed, your parents have probably noticed.
