Assuming when saying prolific you are referring to their legacies as opposed to their children I am definitely going to say Edison. Edison left behind a ton of inventions that we still use or were the basis for things will still use today....Tesla was cool to though..I especially liked his charged particle cannon..

Edison holds more patents. Edison's genius was the marketing of his inventions. Contrary to popular belief, Edison did not invent the light bulb, he made one that worked that could be sold to the public. Tesla on the other hand came up with incredible ideas that could not be understood by the public.

Edison. But it was the genius of Tesla that made a couple of Edison's inventions work 80% better!
-
Edison maybe had more usable patends but Tesla was a more outside the box thinker. He was way ahead of his time and Edison would not have been such a household word if it weren't for Telsa.
-
Tesla was a genius and would always get my vote! His inventions were much more interesting.
-
Thomas Edison and Guglielmo Marconi were nothing more than an outright patent thieves! The modern world of today owes everything to Nikola Tesla.

Some of Tesla’s early patents from 1903 suggest he may also be the father of the transistor; modern computer makers continually run into Nikola’s patents # 723,188 and #725,605. They contain the basic principles of logic AND circuit element basics! His brilliance knew no boundaries and he developed such ideas remote control, believed in harnessing solar and geothermal power, and invented the vacuum tube amplifier ( de Forest receiving the credit ). The list goes on and on.
