We talked about this in english class, my teacher said because they are very proud and think highly of themselves. they have a we can do it type of attitude and they care a lot about the "american dream"
they want to be the besttttttt:)! not sure this rele answers the question lol..

Americans on average are a blend of two things - arrogance and stupidity - so naturally our mode of speech and outlook reflect this.
Not All Americans are this way of course - but a large minority percentage of us often talk in that fashion.

I think that Americans are wired with a "can do" attitude because of the history of their country. Many immigrants to the US have sensed and remarked about the difference in the attitude here. In the US, you expect to win., to suceed. So many people have succeeded here before you that you feel, "Hey, if they can do that, I can do that too". Relatively speaking, America has more freedom and less goverment restraints than many other nations. There are less obstacles holding you back. The US is still a business freindly place.
Americans have inherited a bit of the frontier spirt. They have seen the land settled, like in the old west.
Ask yourself, is it better to have a "I can be the best at anything (or everything) attitude, or is a defeatest attitude better to have?
I don't know if you are writing from outside the States, but if you are, consider that there probably have been many of your countrymen that have come over to the US and have done quite well over here.
What is America anyway? It is a nation of immigrants.
As far as an overly proud, nationalistic or even a jingoistic attitude, there is no reason for Americans or anyone else to behave like that and expect to be respected.

This is a very good question and there is only one answer.
America is right in its opinion because they are superior and the best since ever.
There is nothing in the world that America could not do the best way and so America is a supeior nation to all other nations with the best and real superior people to all others in the whole world.
Nobody in the world ever will be able to reach the extreme American standards and therefore America will always stay the first leading nation over the world.
The people of America are a very different type of people with a born supremacy which makes them to supreme beings with supreme and special rights towards all other people who are rather inferior and inept or non civilized as Americans are by nature.

Your teacher is absolutely right and he just forgot to tell you that as Americans you belong to the most superior type of people in the world and being American you are extremely superior to any other people in the world which are usually very stupid and rather uncivilized and therefore extremely inferior to Americans.
So as Americans you have many more rights than anybody else who is not American. Most other people are crap.
