I'm considering buying a 32GB Ipod Touch but wanted to wait for the summer upgrade. (upgrade announced March 6). Can I buy the Ipod now and buy the upgrade through Itunes when they release the upgrade or should I just wait until summer to buy the Ipod?

Software updates are available for free through Itunes when they are released, usually. Unfortunately, however, the Iphone will recieve the update for free, and Ipod touch customers will have to pay for it. Either way, you'll probably have to buy the update, as most stores will still probably have the non-upgraded ones in stock when the update comes around.
