Oh well what do you know, i am from the south - the State of Gerogia..And i have a southern drawl ;D
It is VERY easy to pick us out of a crowd.
We speak slowly, and use contractions that arent real, for example: Ain't - Are not.
We also slur our sentences together, for example, you would say "Did you eat yet?" but my father will say 'Dijeeatyet?' It comes out as...one word.
We also have sayings only said in the south:
1) I need to sit a spell.
2) What do you see out yonder?
3) Are my stories on yet? ((Soap operas))
4) You ain't going to that party, are ya?
5) Aren't you in high cotton!
6) Ain't that the berries! < - - old people say that
7) Plumb tuckered out. < - - Old people say that
8) He took off like Moody's goose! < - - Old people say that
I could really go on XD
We say a lot of stuff...
Also, the things said in 'Gone With the Wind' like 'Well i do declare!' Those are not said anymore, except when you are joking. And soutehrn women with a drawl, are called 'Southern Belles'
If you would like, i can record how i sound and let you hear ^_^
