Depending on weight, smaller jets tend to recommend 104 knots/ 120 mpg, larger fully laden jets can easily be twice that.

Passenger jets like the Boeing 737 fly a speed of about 140-150 and the 747 about 160-170 knots (a range of 160-185mph) on final, depending on their calculated touchdown weight and wind gust factors. This speed is called V (for velocity) approach or "Vapp".

The "smaller" aircraft like regional turbo props and RJs fly at about 120-140 knots (135-160mph).

The actual speed upon touchdown will be anywhere from 30-40 knots less than Vapp.

Re: the comment "Incorrect, the larger the plane the slower their airspeed to land" ...THAT is INCORRECT! A 747 touches down at a much faster airspeed than a smaller jet like a 737 or 40 passenger Regional Jet. The larger the aircraft the FASTER the Vapp & touchdown speed.
