I think it is very important. It helps you keep track of things instead of relying on your memory for everything.
It is very important. One reason is to remember when you wrote it. Another is that for whatever reason if the documents were needed in court than can be at least a presumption of the date of the material. It can provide at least what lawyers call "A present sense Impression" of the person that wrote them and can be helpful.
Very important. If you have to go to court, the dates on the documents could mean the difference between winning and losing (depending on the type of case).
And even if you never need them for court, dating them tells you how relevant they are in your life. If you have papers from 1995, you may not need them anymore considering that the time has since passed you could do anything about it. It helps with clutter.
