    No! According to the official definition, only men can be castrated!

    Oophorectomy

    Oophorectomy (or ovariotomy) is the surgical removal of the ovaries of a female animal. In the case of nonhuman animals, this is also called spaying. It is a form of sterilization.

    The removal of the ovaries together with the Fallopian tubes is called salpingo-oophorectomy. Oophorectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy are not common forms of birth control in humans; more usual is tubal ligation, in which the Fallopian tubes are blocked but the ovaries remain intact. Removal of ovaries causes hormonal changes and symptoms equivalent to menopause. Women who have had an oophorectomy usually have to take hormone replacement drugs to prevent other conditions usually associated with menopause.

    In humans and some animals such as cats and dogs, oophorectomy is most usually performed together with a hysterectomy the removal of the uterus. This procedure is called an ovariohysterectomy. It is generally not used in humans in the absence of health problems.

    I am assuming you mean cutting off the balls or the penis? Not just stopping someone from giving birth? Women were butchered by having their clitoris gouged out of their bodies, does that one count?

    My wife had to have her ovaries removed a couple of years before I lost my nuts.

    She was a neutered woman and I became a castrated man. We both were sterile but had good sex in spite of our surgery. She was left with nothing but her vagina and I had nothing but my penis.

    Remove her ovaries, and she is as much castrated as a man who has lost his testicles.

    My wife lost both ovaries at age 24, and a couple years later I had to lose my testicles. We made a lot of jokes that we kept between ourselves about both of us being neutered. She ceased to have periods, and a month after I was castrated I was declared to be 'sperm free'.

    The latter was interesting because the nurse thought I was interested in being fertile. She said I had no sperm count, and when I told her I had no testicles and was expecting to be sterile the shock on her face was worth a million. BTW, some male doctors still have problems with me having no balls. I have also had the empty scrotum cut off.

    For you gals, Yes, when a man is castrated he does have hot flashes; big time.
