  • Theoretically, the "Burn" should be in the "Tube"! It should leave little Residue & not cause a lot of "Undercutting" of the Cyl. top strap if not Stainless. Low Recoil to keep U on Target & check Ur Primer for "Flattening & Setback". Then, it must be consistent in all weather & group at whatever distance U need. There is a method & way or getting there & I for one find a lot of fun making guns "Shoot" that others have given up on!!! The .44 & .44Mag are good shooters & most guns will do well with a couple loads, Hot & Light. John
  • triple triple x black powder...never get enough of that wonderful smoke in the morning
  • I suppose it depends on what you want to do. I have used 7 gr. of Unique and 18 gr. of 2400. I haven't done any reloading for years but when I did, I loaded according to what I planned on shooting. Targets, I used the Unique -- softer recoil. Hunting I used the 2400. I shot both the Ruger Super Blackhawk and the Redhawk. Both were uncomfortable with full power loads but th Redhawk was a little easier. But mostly it comes down to how comfortable you feel. My long-time hunting/shooting buddy insisted on only max loads in the 44 mag, and he regularly would shoot sitting rabbits and even squirrels with it, using iron sights. About 50 - 75 yard ranges. I couldn't hit 'em so didn't even try.
