His groundbreaking style of playing the guitar, occasionally going over the tops by playing with his tongue, burning his guitar like on the Monterey Festival (Which contributed to making him famous and notorious). His clothing style, his popularity with groupies, his drug-related death at an early age are all good ingredients to making someone a legend. But above that, Jimi Hendrix deserves being a legend, because he gave us some of the greatest Rock music. Heard today, it is as fresh as ever.

At the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland, he is the ONLY artist that has a theatre dedicated to him. They play movies of his concerts. When you walk out of there, you understand why the man is considered a legend.

Well, I'm an old hippie, and Hendrix was the first Black Rocker (well Buddie Miles, etc) but rocker, you know. that I had ever seen. He was such a Hippie. He really bridged a gap between blacks and whites back in the late 60/s early 70's. I was close to chicago, and ratial riots were happening. Also Viet Nam and black white yellow all had to watch each others backs. He was married to a German figure skater, and she was beautiful He was alot more than just a dead junkie. He flipped his white guitar over and played it upsidedown at first until he got it custom made, he also played like 12 string, before it Burned...

Well, um, his guitar work for one. Then there's his groundbreaking style, his breaking of etnical barriers, and his experimentation.
