  • Manipulation implies a knowingly tampering or arrangement of something in order to get the results that might best benefit you. If the results you're looking for as you say are for that person's own good I believe the term manipulation is broad and perhaps not too fair. However it's a little presumptuous and maybe even dangerous to make a decision for someone else, unless you're a very centered person or a parent trying to guide a young child, for example. One example that comes to my mind is that famous technique known as "reverse psychology". It may count as manipulation although the final decision to act or not on your words falls on the person.
  • i'm not sure if you're refering to a specific situation and that may make all the difference....i did once~for a good friend of mine (she was involved with drugs) but at some point honesty and ultimatum have to be introduced to offer a true learning experience....just my thoughts :)
  • well, my co-worker is always walking around with his shoelaces untied, not only does it look sloppy, it's dangerous... i told him "look at me, velcro closure shoes... i used to think they were for children and the retarded but i now qualify as both". he still didn't tie his shoelaces... then our boss said that he should just tuck the laces inside and he would not have to worry about tying them. he has 1 mother and no girlfriend.. he now has two extra mothers at work
