  • think about people in your own town or city. If its like New York City where I live, there are like a billion accents- and every borough has their own accent too- you can usually tell someone from Brooklyn versus the Bronx, versus Queens- people move from different areas to your neighborhood and you get different accents. On "Are You Being Served" there are different accents but its more of a clas thing. On "eastenders' too. And on "Keeping Up Appearances" Hyacinth tries to hide her background by using a different accent but there are occasions that she has slipped.
  • To continue on from what sarita1 said, a lot of the actors are not from anywhere near where the programs are set, so the accents are totally wrong for the area. Emmerdale is the worse one, its set in Yorkshire, but they are mostly from London. There is a hospital program over here called Holby City and when the actress Jaye Jacobs went for the role of Donna Jackson she actually put on a false accent as she did not think she would stand a chance with her proper one, the casting people picked up on it and asked her to to do it with her real voice, which is actually the right one for the area and now she is probably the only person in the program that has the right accent! In answer to the actual question though, not as far as I know of.
