  • I'd say 3rd person limited. I always look at my scenes as if they're playing as a movie in my head. In 3rd person limited, the "camera" would be right above a certain group of soldiers. If the "camera" pans back too far (3rd person unlimited or omnicient), and you'll lose perspective of what is really important in the scene. Too close (1st person or 2nd person), and your reader will already know who lives and who doesn't. I prefer writing in 3rd person - with a shifting perspective. For example...in the latest project, I have the camera above 6 people. They go off in different directions, but end up back within this central group. The shifting perspective is tricky, but it helps the audience get to know the characters on an individual level.
