Abercrombie ran a retail store which sold sporting goods, and his best customer, Fitch, became his partner in the early 1900's. They don't make anything, they are a retail outlet that sold sporting goods, and later branched out to other retail items.
They became competitors to my father-in-Law's clothing business, and were the reason he switched over to exclusive designer ladies clothing.

My husband's family were very active in the retail clothing industry around the turn of the last century. When I say FIL, I actually mean the grandfather. They made their fortune in clothing, and moved into real estate. The in-laws retired and moved to CA to be with the rest of the family. Hubby got into computers in the early days, and is now a success in IT.
