In the show "Cops," why can't male police officers search women, but the women officers can search men?

Every police department has their own set of general orders. we search women within certain areas. we call lady officers for a thorough search of a suspect. I have never observed a female officer searching a male suspect. i assume it happens, but not in my jurisdiction.

It's simply because a woman can claim she was "felt up" by a male officer a lot easier than a man can claim the same about a female officer. It's the way society has been for quite some time. All men are classified negatively because of the actions of a few.
