What are the difficulties faced by residents of an English-speaking country whose English is not perfect? For example, they have accents, they can understand most of the conversation , but not 100%. They don't use the words that the native residents use.

    Not sure if all of these are actually difficulties, but none are pleasant. They face 1)possible actual discrimination, 2)being looked down upon as less intelligent for misusing the language, 3) using a word or phrase that is derogatory in English that might not be derogatory in their own language and unintentionally upsetting an english speaker, and 4)they can be misunderstood to the point where the response to their statement or question results in an inappropriate or erroneous comment or answer.

    Elevated stress level, from knowing that others might be critical of the accent and of the limited understanding.

    Being laughed at, sometimes. That feels rotten.

    Feeling frustrated about things they want to say but don't know the words for - because they could be so much more eloquent in their first language.

    Being (wrongly) assumed to be less intelligent because of limited English-language use.

    Do you mean like slang, because that varies within England itself... someone from one city may visit a different city and have to learn loads of other words that they are not familiar with...
    No one really speaks perfect English anymore (except for maybe the Dutch)
