This is a societal nicety that polite people do. Basically, it is wishing others well. If you prefer to appear rude and/or unprofessional, be my guest.

i think offering the person a kleenex so they don't spray you with spittle on the next round would be a better idea than telling them "God Blees You". What happens if the person is an Atheist or a Devil worshipper? You might get cursed out.

I always say "bless you" when someone sneezes..it has nothing to do with being religious or not..at least for me. I read that when one sneezes one's heart stops beating for the moment..so the "bless you" is for wanting the heart to begin beating again! :) I say it to strangers all the time and I always receive a "thank you"! :)

I don't acknowledge people sneezing as I don't beleive that some part of their spirit is escaping or that they are being attacked by some spirit. If I sneeze, I usually excuse myself, just as if I had burped in public (and not meant to do it lol!)or some other noise.

I've stopped acknowledging them. A lot of people with which I work are mainland Asians and not Christians, so a blessing would be meaningless to them.
