The value of the American dollar is so poor right now I don't know that there is a "quick fix". But I'm all for gambling as long as it is controlled and not abused. If that is entirely possible.

Absolutely not. The people who can least afford to lose are the ones who become most addicted to them.

Of course they are. I'll put them out, YOU spend all your money hoping for a win, and my economic woes will go away.

Only for the owners of the slot machines. And in my case, it is good for me that the casinos pay all those taxes so I don't have to pay income tax, and the schools benefit a little. However, all the casinos in Reno have to do is whine about how their tax liability is too high, and the City Fathers lower their taxes! These casinos have been around since before I was born and show no signs of closing their doors any time soon.

No, for all they do is make the rich richer and the poor and working stiff poorer, as only a precious few become rich via those bankrupcy machines.

They're the answer to other people's economic woes once they get broke. Gambling never is a good idea when dealing with the economy. Job growth and investing in the infrastructure are the best ways to assuage a region's economic woes. These machines are just vampires that suck the money away from people.

It's so odd. People who gamble on the slots and lottery (etc.) are paying extra tax VOLUNTARILY, but I guess they'll never see it that way.
