the process is just like your ear. tehy sanitize it, clamp it, and run a 4 inch needle through it. i felt a lot of pressure when they pierced me and of coarse, a crunch tht made me cringe because its right in my ear. on a scale of 1-10, i'd say its a 6.. i can handle a fair amount of pain. the endorphines do it for me when i'm really down. they dont numb you, ever, i asked :) what makes this piercing a bit rough is the healing time. i was told 3 weeks... but mine didnt heal for about 2 months. the first 3 weeks i was stringent about cleaning. after that, every few days. if i push it the wrong way, its still sensitive. i've had my share of body parts pierced... and this is the one that i would say was a pain. i've had my tongue, nose, vertical labrae, and nipples pierced. most i still have.. my tragus was the fiercest one of all. i'd recommend getting them done one at a time.. you honestly CANNOT sleep on this ear. good luck! take care of it!

They did not numb me. It was done with a regular piercing needle and was over before I knew it.

It barely hurt. The only thing that was odd was I heard the "crunch" as it went through the cartilage.

I had both done a few days over two weeks ago. I'm going to be honest, it hurt like a bitch! At least for me, I hear from other people they don't experience any pain.

Now that I read the first comment about recommending getting them done one at a time, I wish I had thought of that at the time. I sleep on my sides so they get really irritated. And because of all the trauma I'm putting them though I'm developing keloids, I've started a tea tree oil treatment for them.

All in all, when they heal I'm sure they will look awesome enough to make up for all the complications!

I had it done and it didn't hurt me at all. It seemed to take as long as any other piercing. The piercer told me the tragus actually had no nerve endings but, it still bothers some people. No they didn't numb me. It wasn't bad at all. Have you had any other piercings?

I had mine pierced a week ago and I was really scared. I don't do well with needles but I went ahead and did it anyway. The actual piercing doesn't hurt, just alot of pressure, and I didn't even hear the crunch. And its quick But the healing is pretty painful. A few days ago my tragus was very swollen and had fluid inside. But it's fine now and I even slept on it last night

ermmm well mine got numbed and it was literally over in seconds..i didnt even feel it..to be honest the numbing process hurts a bit but the actual piercing proces is a piece of cake lol..and also everyone says it makes a crunching sound but mine didnt..it probably the best piercing ive had in terms of pain..but the healing process is anoying coz if u touch it or hit it ..then it can be painful and it will swell for a while..but i recomend it..im tempted to go an get the other side done

I got mine done yesterday, after wanting it for two years! I was a little scared but it didnt even hurt. It just felt like a huge amount of pressure on my ear.
they didnt numb it. or clamp the area. the worst part was when he shoved the bar in the hole he created with the needle.

the weirdest thing was the pop of my cartilage when the needle went through.
just hope mine heals better than some of u guys above me :S

the process is just as fast as getting any other part of your ear pierced. i just got mine done last week and it took about 2 min including set up. I didn't think the actual needle piercing was painful at all..just a little pressure that lasts like 2 seconds. but my ear was pretty sore aferwords but nothing that i couldnt tollerate. and no they dont numb you before inserting the needle.

ok so i had mine done today =]
i thought what the hell and had it done XD, all in all it took about a minute, and thats including to pay lol.
My piercer knows i am afraid of needles (as i keep telling him lol) so he doesnt tell me when he is going to do it.
He just marked it up, clamped me and pierced it straight away.
I can only describe it as feeling kinda of tight, as if there were no room in my ear, and it felt like fire, but thats all, as soon as he had done it he told me i had taken it well, and it only hurt when i accidently knocked it in the wnd, and that was just a really dull ache and then it went XD
If you think about it too much, you wont have it done, so if you truly want it, just go have it done the nest time your in town =]

i am thinking about having mine done tomorrow, and figure, if it hurts, it will ony hurt for the small time that the needle and jewellery are being placed, but having the piercng afterward would be worth it
but i am bricking it still lol

I got mine done a few days ago. It didn't hurt me at all. I closed my eyes and she told me to take a deep breath so I did and before I knew it, it was over with. Mine did bleed ALOT though. She did not numb mine. It costs more to numb it. It also takes the true meaning of getting a piercing away. The clamps put pressure on the ear so those are really all you feel.
    You should go for it!!
Also if you get it done don't use anything on it to clean it except for contact solution or the purified water they give you anything else can break the skin up that's healing.
    I <3 mine
9 piercings and still going ^-^

they clean it then clamp it then insert the neddle then get the jewellery bakk through with the neddle bakk the way it came in. it hurts a lil bit an the do it slower than other piercings as not to pierce the bakk of you ear. they wood freeze it but they cant anymore as it can shatter the cartillage so if they offer it to u dont take it and it doesnt reli stop much pain

    gd luck

I had mine pierced a couple of weeks ago and it didn't hurt that bad. I did hear that sound and its disgusting. Mine mainly hurt when I fliped over on to it that night(only happen once haha) but after a couple of days mine was all good. I would definatly do it again. I thought the clamp hurt worse than the actual piercing. Its over very quick and I absolutly love mine.

It shouldn't take any longer than a minute all up. I have 9 piercings and this was the worst. Lobes I rate a 1 or 2 out of 10, helix at 4, navel at about a 5 and this one a 7. It was like a sharp pain just after the needle went through the skin. I actually didn't find the adjusting of the bar painful, and I recovered from it with a minute or so. So it's bearable for a majority of people, but I don't plan to have my other ear done. They don't numb the tragus prior to piercing. Oh, and you almost certainly cannot wear headphones properly for quite some time.

The worst bit is the healing. Very swollen and tender for quite some time, with lots of care to be taken.
(Based on my experience, so it will almost certainly vary from person to person). Good luck to anyone considering it!

it doesnt hurt a single bit
i was pooing myself when i went to have mine done
but they froze my ear with some freezing spray
& then they just clamped it and she put the needle in it. but i didnt even realise it was done because i went have you done it and she had. then she took the needle out and inserted the piercing and off i wnet. it took about 3minutes literally.

it hurts a little but more then your cartilage. it takes 2 shakes of a lambs tail for it to go thought. then the ring goes through, it took my piercer a little bit to get the ring in because he was not able to get it in the back way. but be careful removing cloths because it can get caught and hurt worst or be ripped out.

I just got my Tragus pierced this afternoon and yes, it was quite painful. The needle itself going in wasn't really painful but the pressure of the jewelry being inserted was very painful. I said a few choice words lol. It only lasts a few seconds so it is tolerable. I got a small diamond stud in mine and it looks so pretty, he did a great job. I'm going back in two weeks to get the other ear done because my piercer said that I should wait that long due to the fact you shouldn't be sleeping on it right away. I think it is totally worth the few seconds of pain. I also recommend buying this spray called H2Ocean. Most tattoo and piercing parlors sell it. It is a cleansing spray for piercings made of purified sea water and it fights infection and promote healing. It should only run you about $5.

I finally got my tragus pierced yesterday! He used a little freezing liquid before he put the needle through, felt some slight pressure for a few seconds then it was all over! It barely hurt me at all, bled slightly afterwards but i didn't experience any aches or pains with it!

to numb it whats the point of pericing something?? i would say its about the same as the cartilage. the worst for me was the pop that you hear when it goes through the back.

I wouldn't want to have my tragi pierced. The thought of having a needle go through cartilage really makes me feel ill!
