  • What effect is that? I have been to an asian home where they served me meat loaf for dinner thinking it was a western delicacy. That's kind like us making fried rice for them.
  • Can you clarify. What effect do you mean? As in does it give them stomach upsets? "Indian" food served in takeaways and restaurants around Britain (which has relatively little in common with anything that would be eaten in India - a lot more meat and a lot hotter for a start!) generally gives stomach problems more because of the MSG content than anything particularly Asian about it. Chinese restaurants and takeaways use a lot of MSG (a controversial flavour enchancer) too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monosodium_glutamate It has pretty much the same effect on Asian people. In terms of Asian people who are used to eating a typical Asian diet (whether India, Thai, Middle Eastern- whatever)then there's a chance it would cause diarhhoea or bloating. Food we aren't used to, whatever it is, often causes diarhhoea or constipation because our body isn't quite sure how to handle it. A lot of Western food is quite stodgy and wheat-carbyhydrate based compared to Asian food, chances are most native Asians would have difficulty processing it for a week or two before getting used to it. If you've ever visited somewhere that required a dramatic change in diet you'll know what I mean.
  • most asians are too polite to tell us that our food is bland and unappetising. those I know well tell me they like potatoes, but they aren't filling. I always put chili sauce on the table when my asian friends come to visit from overseas. I know it helps them get through the meal easier! LOLOL I had one friend who tried my pasta for the first time and I could tell he didn't like it. It was such a strange food for him. Eventually, he gave up and apologised to me. I told him I understood, that it was okay not to like it. he was relieved he hadn't insulted me.
  • To most Asians our food is bland, tasteless or too sweet. A number of my Asian friends usually put Tabasco sauce or chilli flakes on their western food to make it taste of something.
