Hi Tinkabelle! I had Bronchitis not that long ago. The doctor gave me an antibotic, but after it was gone,I was still coughing, so I bought a bottle of Buckleys Mixture, and after a few days the cough got better. There is truth to the saying however, "it tastes awful, but it works".Hope your feeling better soon!

Something that always helps with any kind of virus or germ sickness is to change your body's temperature back and forth from hot to cold. Your invading germs/viruses always want a nice constant temperature so they can adjust to it and then multiply at their maximum rate ... altering your temperature will stun and slow their reproduction, giving your immune system a better chance to wipe them out while their numbers are still low. Going from a hot steam bath to a cold dunk tank, then back to the steam, then cold dunk, steam, cold dunk ... is the best ... but even just standing in a shower and changing the water from as hot as you can stand it to as cold as you can stand it will still be helpful. There is also a Buddhist based martial arts exercise pair known as "Dragon Fire in Ice Storm" ... one part induces a very high fever and the second part induces near hypothermia. This sort of thing will do nothing for the pain, but will speed healing and if done every single day of your life, will help to keep you from ever getting that sick ever again.

Firstly, I hope that you have been to a doctor and are taking antibiotics. One med that really helps with a cough is codeine. Ok, on to answering your question: Theraflu and aspergum help with the pain of a sore throat. I also was given by my father a teaspoon of honey and lemon to cut the phlegm. Keysha's family uses honey and whiskey. I found that honey and whiskey works pretty good. The whiskey helps numb the throat a bit. If you mix honey and cinnamon (very heavy on the cinnamon) it helps a bit with the cough. I had bronchitis this year as is customary for me. I was able to knock the cough down significantly with this. Taking a hot shower helps break up congestion. It will cause you to cough afterwards due to the breakup of the congestion but I find it much better after I have done so. In fact, long, hot showers seem, to me, to help beat bronchitis. Vicks helps me with the congestion. I put it on my chest or right under my nose. I find that it works the best right after a shower. I do not know if you have gotten to the point where it feels like your head is going to explode when you cough but, if you have, you really cannot do anything about that other than stopping the cough. I have never found an over the counter pain reliever that helps. Heavy narcotics are the only thing that touches this one. I am sure that you have been told to get Robitussin and I concur. If that does not help, please ask your doctor if codeine might help.

I get bronchitis twice a year & pneumonia once a year. Vicks Vapor Rub helps so much. Put it all over your chest & back. Albuterol inhalers help get the pain with the cough
