I agree that the definition of 'sniper rifle' is in the individual. You can be sniped by different calibers. 'Sniper rifle' is a term used by those that want to outlaw firearms and so they give the designation to easily recognizable weapons. The only other reason a rifle gets the 'Sniper' rating, is it is used by snipers. Same thing with 'Assault' rifles. I can use any rifle or slingshot for that matter, to assault you. It's a misnomer.
