Horror, distress, terror, anxeity, but i dont think any of these really come close to how that poor woman must have felt or the heart break she must have gone through for those few hours

I dont think there are words to describe the pain the woman felt.probably just like death. wanting to find someway to take the pain away.
-
I don't think there is any word to describe the pain and agony she and her family went and are still going through...what is wrong with people now days? Why would anybody do such a thing?

F'king hell I hate my internet...just decides to time-out on* everything when it wants even though it's supposed to be 512kb/s. Sympatico SUCKS! Anyway, this is my answer, (sorry if I may have posted twice...I'm having to re-type this.) What the mom felt was probably the stages of grief. 1. Denial, 2. Anger, 3. Bargaining, 4. Depression, 5. and Acceptance. In only a few hours, she likely didn't reach more than anger or bargaining. If you're content* with just one word, I'll choose 'hopelessness'.

Terror
-
Psychotic
-
Despair. That's probably the most fitting but honestly I don't think words could accurately describe it.
