Help answer this question below.
Both lead to a slow and painful death by suffocation. I would, if given a choice, prefer die by drowning.
Drowning
Drowning is death as caused by suffocation when a liquid causes interruption of the body's absorption of oxygen from the air leading to asphyxia. The primary cause of death is hypoxia and acidosis leading to cardiac arrest.

Premature Burial
If interment (burial) is not reversed within a short period, it rapidly leads to death, usually through one or more of the following: asphyxiation, dehydration, starvation, or (in cold climates) exposure. Although human survival may be briefly extended in some environments as body metabolism slows, in the absence of air, loss of consciousness will take place within 2 to 4 minutes and death by asphyxia within 5 to 15 minutes. Permanent brain damage through oxygen starvation is likely after a few minutes, even if the person is rescued before death. If fresh air is accessible in some way, survival is more likely to be on the order of days (in the absence of serious injury).
A person trapped with air to breathe can thus last a considerable time, and burial has been used as a very cruel method of execution, lasting sufficiently long for the victim to comprehend and imagine every stage of what is happening (being trapped in total darkness with very limited or no movement) and to experience great psychological and physical torment including panic and extreme claustrophobia.

I believe that being buried alive is a lot worse. I'd rather drown. :(
Like Andy the Wonderful said, I'd have to think being buried alive would be worse, since drowning could occur much faster, and the resulting hypoxia would hopefully cause you to black out quickly.
Unfortunately, just choking to death on dirt as you were buried alive would likely not be as fast, and probably much more panic-inducing. Maybe if you were encased in a coffin where the oxygen would slowly be used up, that'd be OK....
All in all, an interesting question, although not much fun to think about!! ;)
I've never drowned or been buried alive, but I would imagine that both would suck..
buried alive 100% coz when you drown you'll get that pressure in your head and lungs fill up with water but under ground your whole body will be crushed, fire ants and stuff will get you, you'll get dirt in EVERY hole.Gross! Best to drown.
Having your wings plucked off!
omg , maybe buried alive....
Being burried alive like the Hitler days back in Germany.
drowning. it would go faster.
Drowning will hurt your head and the pressure in your head, ears, and lungs will be painful. I choose to be buried alive.
Drowning can take but a few moments.

Neither appeals to me, to be honest, but I felt the need to illustrate why I answered the way I did. Sorry :(
