It all depends on the company. My friend needed one to be probation officer. A physical consists of height, weight, checking your eyes, ears, nose, knee reflexes, nails, blood pressure.... basic stuff. Also mental health issues and drug testing.

Most government positions require some form of physical. some private sectors also require a physical for insurance purposes. Police and firemen require a rigid physical examination, to make sure their heart, lungs and all major body parts, are normal. you can understand why. Truck drivers require physical examinations to assure their ability to drive trucks for long distances and loading and off-loading heavy cargo.
