thats a tough question in historical times people were taken into the woods or left to die by natural and other means when they were ready. today, with modern medicine, we can prolong peoples lives till the bitter end and beyond. many countries allow the terminally ill to end their lives , both with the help of practioners and by taking lethal sedatives on their own. in the usa, its illegal in most states ..yet it is quietly allowed in many places. doctors are not allowed to be involved, directly, except in very special cases. there are places called hospices, that are basically little clinics for the terminally ill to go to and stay and to be administered comfort and medications to help ease their sufferings. but i dont think they are allowed to speed up the process. its a very delicate subject , at best.

I think that if someone doesn't want their quality of life to be severely diminished and they are forced to suffer with a terminal illness then they should be able to have the choice of assisted suicide. They have the option to DNR if they code in a hospital which goes against the hippocratic oath of the doctors, but they can't choose to end the inevitable early? Seems bass-ackwards.
