Does anyone else find it silly that so many sports and entertainment venues are named after whatever company had the biggest hand in it's funding? Example: Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Minutemaid Stadium..

In Australia it is usually temporary and paid for by sponsors. Eg; Telstra Dome, Optus oval and Skilled stadium. After a limited tenure, these names can be changed.

Greed at its finest! The sports owners will sell themselves to the higest bidder! :(

It's called advertising. Unfortunately, between players salaries and owners bonuses, it's a necessity.
