Difficult to answer accurately. It will ultimately depend on local traffic law. Where I am from, when the light turns yellow you are you are obligated to stop if you can....not only if you can't beat the red. Also, it is illegal to change lanes in an intersection. However, if it was safer to continue throught the intersection, and you made the lane change (safely) to prevent an accident and keep traffic flowing, I don't see a problem. Personally I don't see myself giving you a ticket, if that is what you are asking.
