  • Without kidneys and without dialysis perhaps about a week. That is an informed guess.
  • woe woe... if you know someone who needs dialysis...see a doctor immediately.
  • it all depends on how bad their disease is. if they have been on dialysis and all of a sudden stop i have seen people not really more than two weeks. These people who choose to stop have been doing it for awhile and are really really old.
  • Well I'm 20 and I've NEVER had dialysis.
  • It depends on the individual really. I've worked in dialysis for 7 years now & have seen patients go as little as 1 or 2 days up to a couple months. How well the individual took care of themselves while on dialysis plays a huge part, did they adhere to fluid & diet restrictions for example? Sometimes(& I stress VERY RARELY)kidney function does return to some degree, but this is usually in patients new to dialysis. Most of the time it's purely blind luck, when it's your time to go, it's your time.
  • I would guess it depends on how far their kidney disease has progressed. My dad lived for three days after he decided he no longer wanted to have dialysis treatments. He was in his 80's at the time. Perhaps a persons physical condition (other than their kidneys) plays a role in that also.
  • My Grandmother grew tired of dialysis and told the doctors she wanted to be "let go" She lasted two weeks. I didn't approve but it was her decision and I had to respect it.
  • My dad stopped Dilaysis 2 weeks ago. He has been on it for 10 years. The Hospice Nurse said he wuold probably last a week but he is still here. He isn't able to communicate because he is so lethargic from the toxins not being filtered by the kidneys.
  • Vashtar your a fucking retard
