Depends what you using it for, if you want a cheaper more basic computer go with AMD. Intel's dual cores are the best at the high end of the market but for low-med end cpu's and value for money you cant go past AMD.

Id say something like a AMD 64 + 4000 x 2 should do you fine..that would be fine for any sort of media based project or light gaming you need to do.

If you need intel advice youll have to ask someone else.

Pentium (i.e. Intel) are generally better. I don't know how to explain why, but they do tend to be better.

However, I read an article once stress testing a dual core AMD vs. a dual core Intel, and although the Intel encoded a video file in three times the speed of the AMD, the AMD ended up doing better in gaming, I believe.

So I'd stick with AMD, for gaming. :)

A pentium dual core for normal pc users and a E8400 for mid-range gamers and a Core i7 for hardcore games.

    for gaming i prefer INTEL.
for normal tasks i reccomend AMD.

I purchase Intel E82000 processor. The cost is moderate but it is able to handle HDTV. It is able to give the
    benefits of high cost processors.

I would suggest you to go for Intel Atom processor as it's much faster than any other.

Intel's architecture is ahead of AMD's, it's as simple as that. For every clock (Hz), an Intel processor can do more operations than an AMD processor.
