  • You're liable for the speeding NOT the car inspection. After all, it's not legally your car. Your friend; however, is legally required to pay for the car inspection. If it doesn't pass inpsection, then whatever needs to be fixed on the car must be fixed; otherwise, it can't be driven. I know from personal experience about the car inspectoin because my car failed inspection, so I had to pay to get the part of my car fixed. Good luck!
  • You, as the driver and the person in control of said vehicle, are responsible for both, the speeding citation and the vehicle's inspection. When you borrow a vehicle, it is the drivers responsibility to make sure the borrowed vehicle is road-worthy. tail lights, brakes, headlights, turn signals, registration, are all the drivers responsibility. Here is why. if you crash your borrowed vehicle and the accident is your fault, you can rest assured you will face civil liability. and, if a malfunction, on any part of the borrowed vehicle, was the cause of the accident, you again are liable. maybe, this crash could have been prevented with a proper inspection. When borrowing a vehicle, it takes just seconds to make a quick inspection. these few seconds could save your life and someone else's. The owner of said vehicle, should have had his vehicle inspected, when due. he, also would be liable, if your accident, in his automobile, was your fault.
