  • No. This is borderline sexual harassment. If the girl uncomfortable with his action, she should tell him directly or talk to her adviser about it.
  • Yes, there is no need for touching of anykind.
  • It's not 'inappropriate', but it's not very smart considering the fact that teenage girls often misinterpret physical contact. If it makes her uncomfortable, she should tell him so and ask him to stop.
  • I don't think so. Unless her breasts are located on her back? The only way I can see that as inappropriate are if she's told him to stop and he continues to do it.
  • I don't think it is inappropriate, but it is not smart at all. I am a male and I taught high school and NEVER initiated contact with a female student. I only hugged my debaters after they won something and they hugged me first and ALWAYS in public.
  • okay first of all teachers pat all students on the back either to congratulate good work or to show the student they are human and create necessary student teacher relations developed on trust. thanks to the overhaul on sexual harassment teachers and IAs at elementary schools can't even hug a crying student who was injured emotionally or physically. it is up to every single person to gadge what is harassment or not. anything is harassment for anyone if you have asked the person even once not to do it. but if they make a harmless gesture like this and it truly does not distort your comfort at all and you do not say anything then it is not inappropriate contact or harassment.
