Help answer this question below.
I just came back on. I would prefer theology. It makes more sense, believe me.
Theology is the study of metaphysics. Or, maybe you mean something specific by "metaphysics"?

Thanks for your answer, singwell. "Makes more sense" or easier to believe?

makes more sense. I hate pondering my own navel. I would rather answers that endless pondering about how many angels can fit on a pinhead.

Are we thinking of two different things here? I think of "metaphysics" as the branch of philosophy concerned with the ultimate nature of being, reality and the world 'beyond physics'. I don't understand the "navel" or "angel/pinhead" thing? Are you saying that these considerations are of no interest to you? ;-)

It is philosophy for the sake of it. Arguing about things that do nothing for humanity. eg when the Turkish army was at the gates of one of the Balkan cities in the middle ages, inside there was a discussion between monks and philosophers about what colour the Virgin's eyes were. Get my drift?

Yes I do (catch yer drift). Most folks would certainly agree w/ you. But I gotta confess, I've been nearly preoccupied with this kinda horseshit since I was a kid, actually spending five years after highschool poor as a pauper for an MA in Philosophy before actually beginning my career training! Reminds me of a quote: "'To each his own', said the lady as she bent down low to kiss a pig's ass!"

And why dontcha leave some of the "Expert" status deals for the rest of us? Wow! Thanks for answering my question and I hope to 'run into' you again! ;-)

I was in the top 5 at one stage...can't remember how high I got. Am slowly going down the ranks now. Never mind. C'est la vie! Hope to see you again.
