  • Yes-- it gets rid of the excess starch that seeps out into the water and now coats the pasta.
  • If you're trying to cook pasta to "al Dente", rinsing the pasta will cool it immediately, and keep the pasta from cooking to too soft before you can use it. The sauce you use for the pasta should be hot enough to keep the dish warm. ^_^
  • I never rinse my pasta. I cook it for about 7 min. while it drains it continues to cook for a minute which makes it perfect everytime. Also, I noticed that if you do not rinse it the sauce will stick to it better.
