Odometer. Pretty accurate. Unless the car is an older one and the odometer can roll backwards by putting the car in reverse. The best way to see how accurate it is, is drive somewhere X miles away and see what your odometer says. If it says X, you know it's relatively accurate. Obviously, the greater X is, the more accurate your answer. Another way to do this is use a GPS device. The device will record exactly how far you've gone. Your car and GPD device should give the same answer.
