  • There is a "Base Timing" Adjustment that requires U to "Unplug" a wire & then set up the "Base Timing" as a First step. Then Ur Computer can take "Control" of things. I just don't remember which wire to tell U it is!!! Damned "Old Timers" disease!!! John
  • Not according to the Haynes manual nor my mechanic. You cannot adjust the timing, the computer controls all of that. You have an ignition control module, throttle position sensor, cam and crank sensors, all of these play a role in how your computer determines engine timing. I have already had to replace my timing chain and gear. When it jumps time, you will def. know it. There are marks on the gears that have to be lined up when installing the new chain and gear. The computer picks up info from the cam and crank sensors as to the position of the components and tells it when to fire and when not to and how much fuel to send. There is no trick to being able to unhook a wire or turn the distributor. My timing is still advancing due to a worn cam lobe, there is nothing that I can do nor the mechanic to "adjust" the time except for to replace the camshaft.
