  • My answer is contained within the following musical performance:
  • Rock it and Shock it baby....be careful you areshaping minds of the people who will take care of us when we have aged. Have fun and remember you recieved the job for a reason..you can do it, good luck!
  • Hahahaha. How do you keep from laughing? Whoops. Intended to be a comment.
  • Jeez, I don't know....been trying to think.....but seems like as long as you show up your job is secure. Sounds like it would be pretty simple...you won't be teaching advanced calculus. If you can wipe drool, clean up cookie crumbs, and change poopy underwear then you're all set.
  • Well, first of all I would scare them a little bit, show them you mean business, because little kids are devils sometimes! Then, I would slowly show them how fun it can be if they learn and behave. Don't tolerate cheek or back chat, and keep them constantly busy with stuff like artwork. Kids seem content as long as they are in a mess, and have a picture to show at the end of it!
  • Use the internet for resources. Know your room. You can't just pop in with a lesson on transportation if nobody in your room has been interested. Don't be afraid to be silly. Involve parents. I held a meet and greet to allow parents to get to know me when I started and then now I am sending an unfinished scrapbook home with each family so they can do their own page. Have silly days such as pajama day, backwards day, farmer day, etc. The key is to have fun and teach kids how to enrich their environment through play and observation.
  • I agree with Lex. Showing your students that you are "nice" and excited about the themes you teach will make them more at ease and more excited to learn. Remember to make it fun! Keep it simple and interesting.
  • This may affect you for years to come, BUT... When you call the father in for a conference, he's probably thinking "Whoa! My son's/daughter's teacher is HOT!".
