I get offended when you use any word and mean it to be an insult.

DISCLAIMER: I am a middle-aged, straight, white guy.

Do YOU get offended when ANYONE use the term "MAN' as an insult? ("You're just a MAN...") When they call your girlfriend or wife "WOMAN" as an insult? ("She'll never get anywhere... She's just a WOMAN.") In many cases, ANY term COULD be an insult ... It depends on the tone of voice used (spoken OR written).

I would think they would look to the source, and decide from there, though the term "homo", I think, has become associated with the insult, just about as strongly as when people call your black friends one of the many names that are simply insulting to the race; when ANYONE calls a woman a "Ho"; Mexicans are called "wetbacks", etc.

Personally, I don't like the term, and, as I said, I'm straight. Just my opinion.

Im not gay, but I would never ask a gay person if he or she is a HOMO or not. If I suspected they were, I would'nt give a shit unless the person was pushing their personal views on me. The point is, I am respectfull to a point and I dont want to here about that since I do'nt unload my personal opinions, unless
    asked, like AB questions

I get offended when people use any words as an insult. After all, their intent is to be insulting.

Of course, not all LGBT people are the same, just like all straight people are not the same.

I can assume that some do of course, after all it's been made an issue before.

However this question would be more insulting to me if I was gay than the actual insult. It's generalizing about a huge group of people numbering in at least the millions, how can every single one of them be the same?

Can you say that to a gay person without it being an insult?

  • Anyone who uses "homo" as an insult probably uses a lot of other derogatory words to insult others as well. Most close-minded bigots are equal-opportunity haters. Pity them...for karma will bite them hard on the kiester one day...unless they insult the wrong person and they get an arse-whooping first. (DISCLAIMER: I am not a violent person, nor do I advocate it. Unfortunately, there are many people who are. Best advice, no one should use such offensive language like that if they have to brain cells. "Homo," the "N" word, all the other nasty, pea-brained slurs you still hear these days).
