Well, I'm actually writing a 'novel' at the minute - it's about all this school children trapped in school by a horde of fantasy monsters. Eugh, it sounds rubbish when you put it like that, but I have some hopes for it. If you're talking about metaphorical novels mine would be about the main characters inability to accept normality.

The dysfunctional middle class. Our families have just as much drama inside of them, but they usually don't play out on a public stage. We keep dark secrets. Our drug addicts pop pills instead of shoot heroin. Our mothers are just as bad as taking care of their babies, but because we're married to the judges, cops, politicians, our kids stay home instead of going to foster care. And on and on and on.
