Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a Toyota Corolla 1991. What seems to be its problem because when I drive it, it jerks a lot when you push the gas pedal. I had it tuned up and replaced fuel filter. Even bought a carburetor cleaner but no luck. What's wrong?

If it is jerking when you push the accelerator gently, I would guess the throttle position sensor. If it is doing it under hard acceleration, it could be a plugged catalytic converter. A slipping trans. could provide a jerking sensation too. Did the mechanic who did the tune-up drive it? He should have some ideas. With the desription you give it would be impossible to give a definate answer without driving the car.

    Bebet_76,
Fuel injected cars use a variety of sensors for fuel delivery. If it does it while warm, it could be a temp sensor. If your car isn't fuel injected, there is a whole other list of problems it could be.
While I am fairly knowledgeable about the basic theories and principles of automobiles, I can not possibly know what all the options are on every car. If you will e-mail me with a little more info about your car I will try to help you.

Well, it might be a suspension problem. But if it was, I wouldn't only do it when you press on the accelerator.

IF it's a suspension problem, you can get an alignment, and your mechanic should tell you what parts might need replacement. However, the mechanic I went to wanted to charge me like $80 for a part that I found new for less than $15. So keep that in mind.

Mechanics who looked at it says it is just a tune up fix. But it is not. Sorry but is there a TPS in my car model?

It is jerking a lot when the engine is warm.
