Why did van gogh commit suicide?

Actually,.. it was a damn rotten ass shame that this event had taken place, Vincent dying of a self inflicted gun shot wound. One asks oneself, what exactly would drive an artist such as Vincent to commit such an act,.... when knowing in his own mind what he was creating, what exactly he would be leaving the world in his art, what it was worth then, and what it would be worth down the road. Has anyone of you thinking yourselves of might possibly wanting to know the correct answer to this question really wanted to know the truth? Myself,... I am only left with the assumption,... I guess not. Other wise I do believe more of you and Vincent van Gogh fans would know the answer to this question besides myself.

In these seemingly short life spans of ours, one only has to open ones own mind and start thinking about our own diagnosis and prognosis. Forget about what these MFA experts has been telling us for years! If they knew what they were talking about, there would actually be no questions left in our minds. It would all be cut and dried, just as it has been written down in history,... and also written in a few books and in all of Vincent's letters to his family, loved ones, his art dealing brother, his colleagues and acquaintances.

All these MFA experts seem to come up with now, when comparing most of the letters with the art work itself is more or less their own considerations of double edge swords which leaves a lot of doubt in the MFA experts own minds,... of what is actually true and what isn't. The best way for them to get around this is for their automatic "NO" to remain in place when question come up and for them to remain absolutely silent on most all matters pertaining to Vincent van Gogh and other masters of fine art.

Is this world of ours so damn full of lies that the ones having to be told to continue covering up the previous ones will be the main cause of its own demise?

He was a misanthrope who was distressed by the human condition. Van Gogh was an idealistic,non-conformist who could not understand why people lived in misery, poverty, and ignorance. He could not understand why the wealthy exploited the poor. He found perfection in nature. Poor, alone, and in hopeless despondency he shot himself.

He suffered from recurrent bouts of depression and also drank a lot. Like many artists of his day, he was fond of absinthe.

It has been suggested that Van Gogh was extremely sensitive to images of sorrow, whether in the Bible, contemporary literature, or life and nature. His deep communion with nature bordered on Romantic mysticism and included not only euphoric feelings of the regenerative powers of nature, symbolized for him by the sun and the seasons, the blossoming trees and the wheat fields, but also a visceral sense of the other face of regeneration: death and timelessness expressed in the cypresses, olive trees, and the night sky with its stars. The shadow of death had arisen in his mind in 1873, and can be traced in his mourning for the love and family life he lacked in his own life, and in his longing for an ideal purity. His obsessive personality dictated his approach to everything, from his early devotion to the Bible, to his passion for literature, his excessive behaviors as well as his attempts to control those behaviors and, above all, his unabated dedication to art. When, at the age of twenty-seven, he finally decided to become an artist, Van Gogh believed he had found a remedy for his melancholia. A theme that recurred in his letters was the efficacy of work as a "distraction" from his sadness, a note that became ever more urgent during his periods of illness in Arles and in Saint-Rémy.
